RDMP

RDMP, type, val1, val2, dr1, dr2;

Defines Rayleigh damping for harmonic and transient simulations

  • Rayleigh damping is superimposed to the constant damping ratio (if the modal superposition solver is off) and to the modal damping ratios (if the modal superposition solver is on).
  • Rayleigh damping is defined by the damping ratios at two characteristic frequencies. Negative alpha-beta-multiplies can be set to zero in the Simulation Settings window.

Parameter Description
type Type of frequency specifications
freq - Frequencies are specified by numbers
mode - Frequencies are taken from eigenmodes
val1 → If type = freq - First frequency
→ If type = mode - First eigenmode
val2 → If type = freq - Second frequency
→ If type = mode - Second eigenmode
dr1 Damping ratio for the first frequency or eigenmode
dr2 Damping ratio for the second frequency or eigenmode
